Any high wattage ~10ohm resistors work. The best place to get them would be a 7M resistor pack. You wire them in series with the black wires on the injectors. The black wires are 12V from the battery.
Exactly, clutches don't hold power, pressure plates to. An aftermarket clucth is only going to hold up to more abuse, that's about it.
Stock clutch + aftermarket PP = holds lots of power
Aftermarket clutch + aftermarket PP = holds lots of power and takes lots of abuse
aftermarket clutch +...
To measure the clearance you need some feeler gauges. You only need to remove the valve cover to check clearance, however if you want to actually change the shims, you will need to remove the cams. Shims can be bought at any Toyota dealership. They're the same as 2JZ shims. I believe some Yamaha...
Do you have a JZA70, or a 1JZ Swapped MA70? Because the JZA70 gauge is NOT in PSI, it's in x100mmHG. (10psi ~ 600mmHG)
You can only get to about 14psi before you hit boost cut.
Do yourself a favor, and instead of getting a boost controller, simply get a less restrictive intake and exhaust...
You know, I thought of that shortly after I posted :)
Maybe we should post what sort of oil we have to go along with the numbers...
Or just be happy that we don't have oiling problems.
The 1JZ tach gets its signal from the black/red wire on the igniter.
You most likely tapped into one of the control lines, and thus are getting exactly 1/6 the signal you should be getting.
2JZ-GTE injectors will drop into the 1JZ rail (2JZ-GTE = 550cc), the injector clips are different, but you can make them fit with slight modifications. You need to wire in some resistors to the injectors as 2JZ are low impedance where the 1JZ expects high impedance.
My dad has a '95 9000 Turbo. That's what I learned to drive on more or less. Saab has some pretty surprising motors. 2.3L I4, stock is like 200hp, and 240ft/lb. One of the few cars I've seen with an electronic boost controller integrated into the ECU. They have a wastegate spring set at like...
Mitsu runs 5x114.3 on the Eclipse. They never came in 18s though, so I'm guessing they're aftermarket.
Stock offset is +46mm. Assuming the 18s fit on the Eclipse, they should fit on the Supra too (we fit MKIV wheels which are +50mm)
I work with a guy who used to have this Prelude with a bunch of money in it. He sold it, and bought this POS 87 Turbo (rust holes, peeling paint, etc), and he absolutely loves the car.
Tell you what, I'll throw some slicks on my car in the spring, take it to the track, and pump 500whp through it. When it snaps, I'll send it right to you :)
