well before anyone diagnoses detonation, what makes you 100% sure its detonation... the cardinal rule of diagnosis is :
#1 Verify the complaint.

oh yeah, as far as MBC's, ive been using a voodoo 3 mbc i got off ebay for 15 bucks and it works great. Its set up so that if the set screw comes out by chance, it just goes to stock boost. It's not too sensitive and works fine for me..
iirc, 22-23 inches of vaccum is about what you should be at with the engine warmed up around 650 rpm range. If you're reading 20, i'd double check all of your vac lines. I usually hold 22-23@idle and ~20psi oil press @ idle... specs say 40 lbs oil pressure around 3k rpm range and as low as 6psi...
