hire a licensed electrician. it very well may be an easy problem to fix, but most home fires are caused by faulty wiring. i would feel at home wiring a house from the very beginning, but trouble shooting other peoples work i would leave to a professional. just my two cents.

i dont think there is any reason to keep the stock cable. it should be trivial to get an electronic speedometer to work with a stock toyota sender, which mounts at the exact same place the cable driven gear is located.

i would use a stock toyota speed sensor. i think the soarer r154 uses an electronic speedometer. from what i here it fits right where the cable speedo driven gear bolts in.
