Just the one, yeah. I was planning on letting it warm up, then heading out. Full throttle second gear 2000-5000 RPMs, then third 2-5000, then fourth 2-5000. Come back, change the oil, repeat. I was wondering if I should turn the boost down a good bit or leave it where it is currently at, concern...

What if you just replaced the rings, and the car was in a more or less perfect state of tune prior to the tear down? I was planning on using the Motoman method as well. Ian, feel free to PM me as you know the specifics in my case.

Not necessarily, it could be one of the crappier motors that's been beat on for YEARS and/or he's running low boost.

I know you said the battery is good, but just for shits and giggles try it again. Mine does this when the battery is lowish (8-10V). Also, try having someone jiggle the battery wires while you're trying to start it. I have this problem from time to time and these two things usually get the job done.

Unlikely, but completely 100% possible. If you get enough oil in there, it can leak down there and burn up. Mine did it.

If you're only at 250hp a W58 will be more than adequate.

No problem. Out of curiosity, how did you determine you had a BHG? Have you done a compression test? Block test? Oil in coolant/coolant in oil? White smoke? Waterfall sound? What's going on?
