I was not happy with what I was able to see inside the water jackets of the block even after it has been hot tanked at the shop. It appeared to be very rusty inside. I had to try to do someething to get what I could out. I ended up putting a screwdriver down in there and knocking it around...
well I finally got my bearings. I have had them for several days now but with the holidays, havent had time to even measure them until today. GRRRR. Anyway they are not measuring what Rich told me from summit. Im coming up with .085 on the mains and .066 on the rods. Subtracting that from...
good work Bob. Im excited for you and your work up to this point. I cant wait to start my JZ project. But i have to get this 7M back together first. Get ready for alot of questions!:naughty:
thanks 87. One of the reasons for this build thread is to hopefully help some else going through a first time build like me. I hope it will help answer alot of questions for others like I had and still have. Im trying to be as thorough as I know how to be and have learned alot from this forum...
Man you must keep the preservative on that leather. I have never seen supra leather in that good a shape. Well except brand new! Can someone tell me how to post pics in bigger sizes like these and not thumbnails, which is all that is happening for me.
CONGRATS BOB! I know thats got to be a good feeling. Happy for ya dude. By the way, I noticed that your engine hoist is at the side of the car not in front. Is that the way you took it in or was the hoist moved before you took that pic? Oh and by the way your car is a mess!!:biglaugh:
Thanks for the info. I will probably go with the one piece light one for cost reasons, but I was talking to Luis at paradise racing and he thinks the cost is not a factor for one reason. He said when you try to get a lightened one resurfaced your going to pay $150 or so cause of the hardness of...
How do you post these bigger pics?? All I can upload are thumbnails. I tried increasing the size of the pics but either it was to big to upload or no change.
I painted some parts today. Used high heat engine paint from Advance. I think duplicolor gloss black

Well I ordered by bearing from summit on ebay. Rich was a big help on helping me trying to figure out my clearances.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&sspagename=ADME%3AL%3ARTQ%3AUS%3A1&viewitem=&item=180035827966 These are the best prices I found on a regular basis. Just...
Rak I dont remember if you mentioned or not but what kinda clutch and flywheel did you go with? Im going to have to get one soon for my 7m and just wondering what is a good upgrade. Something that will hold the power but still be street friendly as an everday driver. I know you have more...
nice work Bob. And about using an impact gun on the crank bolt. I did that to and mine is pretty stout, or about 500 lb ft of torque and it wouldnt break it loose. I hope you have better luck. If nothing else, you can always try breaking it loose once you get it in the car and hooked back up...
Ok so I think I read that you are using GTE electronics.? So what do you do with the extra knock sensor wire in the GTE harness? I have always wondered this.
I am up to 4 right now.:evil2: But I plan on getting back down to 2. Only two of them run right now, but one of the two has rod knock. :3d_frown: I have considered putting the motor from this thread into the Dark blue with rod knock and selling it. So there might be one for sale soon. hint...
