Well, everyone can say this and that about the potential of the 7M, but the potential of the 2JZ has been established, and THAT's the point that you can buy a STOCK 2JZ-GE for $400 and hit 10's with supporting mods, not a stock 7M. And if the 2JZ-GE blows up or melts a piston, okay, spend...
Awe, I'm waiting for physics to tell me how 7M=2JZ, from a physics point of view. And yes, it is apples to oranges. Structures and materials in the 2JZ are stronger, and most importantly, different, mmmmmmk?
I already stated I admire your efforts.
Forfront of what? A Conversation? Wow...
I think holding on to 7M's is good for some people. I think it's admirable, and old age of the engine, the rebuilding process, trial and error, smaller aftermarket which is slowly growing due to a higher demand of younger drivers, cheaper... it just seems like the 7M is just a thing of the past...
Stock type headgaskets (composite) may not go 100% flat, expansion and contraction of the head and block can squish this headgasket even further. If you've looked at old composits, you can see where the material was squished.
Some people claim they leak compression until they've torqued...
I had one replaced for under $100 at a local shop. I bought a bearing from autozone or somewhere, can't remember, and just said swap them out. Took about 40 min.
67mm turbo....
Or larger... 500RWHP on a .63 A/R should be cake. It is possible to make 500RWHP w/o meth on 93 octane, and very doable with that turbo. Nice powerband too.
Look into what the MKIV guys are running (single kits), and you'll get all the answers you need, to include the...
Well, we both recommended you do a search of the turbo you want to use. Some MKIV guys run T70's and lay down 600RWHP+++. Supraforums, here, there... There have been over a dozen "Which turbo......." threads in the past month.
And I'm not offended at all!
Well, just based off your fuel injectors, you "could" make about 530RWHP on pump/meth give or take 20HP. The information for Garret T70's??? should be Google friendly ;)
part number for a Goodyear Gatorback timing belt for a 1JZ:
40147
Already installed on my bastard JZ.
For my 1.5JZ we needed a 2JZ timing belt, we went with a Gates timing belt, going high lift/interference with it, so we'll see how it works out. My friends have never had a Gates...
Your best bet is to measure in your car the dimensions you want, then go back to Ebay, most of the intercooler measurements are posted in the ads. Even a 2.00 inch in/out will yield 543RWHP. Malloynx proved that.
