Mine was doing that for awhile when I put it back together, keep hitting it with wd40 while you give it a little encouragement to go up and down, takes a little while but it worked like a charm for me.
Converting video files is a waste of time and an unnecessary pita unless you need the file to be portable.
PS3 media server can reencode almost any file on the fly no problem right up to 1080p so long as your computer and network can handle it.

The car has to be crushed or else the junk yard could get in deep shit. Besides salvage yards will almost never let anyone buy an entire car, they will only sell it in pieces.
