No, Don't do that. Mufflers with resonated tips will NOT get you the sound you want. As for resonators The one bwest posted is a great choice.

Heat is your friend.. Use a heat gun or hold the hose over a burner. That will warm the the hose up & allow it to strech much easer.

You must have missed somthing. Two 45 deg. pipes & A little trimming with a hack saw should work perfect.
