The reason that coolant lines are run through the throttle body and idle speed control valve is for, as Kevin stated, cold weather. The coolant warms the two parts so that the valve and throttle plate don't stick shut due to ice formation.
Welcome bro. You're heater issue is possibly the control valve on the firewall. It is located above the grommet that the engine harness passes through, and has coolant lines attached to it. try ziptieing the plunger all the way up and see if you have heat. it should work.
