looks to me like the rear seats were the starting point... i know vw had issues with window motor wiring... the fuel pump and tank are in that area as well. any stereo /amp in the car? either way i dont think it started in the dash or trunk so the cig lighter prolly wasn't the cause...

ya got the car for 300 and a second very totalled celica for 50 the red car had 2 exposed rods and the totalled car drove onto the trailer, some paint and a gasket kit later and its alive. the parts car was a 89 so it did not have the coldstart connector in the same spot
