The car's a bit far away from me right now :) I can guarantee the ECU did come with my JDM engine though. The hacked up harness still had plugs on it and it looked like it matched with the engine, which was definitely 100% JDM.
It's not rod knock.
The noise is only at idle, if I rev it higher I can't hear it. It may still be there, but it's drowned out by the other noises.
It's right where the engine/trans connect, yes.
Loose flywheel is something I haven't had a chance to check for, but it could very well be...
People do LS swaps into RX-7s all the time. I could care less if some random guy I don't even know in Australia is putting one into a Supra, I just wanted to know why he chose the 1JZ. Don't assume you know what other people are thinking. :nono:
I'm coming. You wouldn't happen to be NoSup4U on INC would you? I have an odd feeling it's the same person with two usernames considering the similarity of your posts :)
If this isn't a "toyota only" thing I have some friends I could drag with me from Raleigh who'd be very excited to see a bunch of Supras and MR2s driving around :)
I've done the clearances on my car personally 3 times now and it's still making tons of noise.... I'm thinking maybe my cams themselves are moving back and forth or something along with the valves? My actual valve ticking is pretty quiet, but there's that louder tapping noise that I can't figure...
The Supra hasn't been out in Charlotte for quite a while :( I don't even know what the QS meets are haha. Do you by chance have a white MKIII? It's one of the only unaccounted-for MKIIIs I remember seeing around Charlotte. :icon_bigg
I think he's worried about torquing them down properly, not just tightening them. I've never been able to figure out a way to get a torque wrench to tighten the front upper nut :( I can get the others with flex joints and fancy manuvering though, and just kind of tighten the one I can't torque...
True, if you're tuned well even cast pistons should hold up. I'd feel much safer going forged if I were building a high HP engine though. Comparing these to my stock pistons they were remarkably similar, and nippon is quite an established company, so I wouldn't worry too much about them randomly...
