why does it matter what we think? as long as its not a cheapo apc (a piece of crap) brand.....then its really up to if YOU think they are comfortable and for the type of driving youll be doing....
exactly i would be amazed to see an aluminum head of the age and mileage 98% of these 7ms are at not be off by at least a bit by now....
also we BOTH know the people who didnt do machine work are almost guranteed to not have even checked for straightness lol.
um composite or not when doing a hg there should ALWAYS be machine work involved...at the VERY least a resurfacing of the head even if its a thin slice coming off. theres just no excuse for that.
wow there are 7 VERY brave or VERY dumb and/or VERY lucky people on these boards right now...AND there are frankly 2 VERY STUPID AND LUCKY people on these boards....
im shocked! shocked i say!
this isnt hard...if you have an autozone or the such around you they rent tools out for free.
go there and ask for a slide hammer, and the pilot bearing attachment...
go back to your house, attach the pilot bearing part to the slide hammer...insert it into the middle of the pilot bearing..only...
just 2 12mm (i believe bolts that go through the firewall its pretty easy to see it when you get under there... shouldnt need to remove anything else to get it out.
i just dont see the reward being greater or even equal to the risk.
WHY?
can he run 20psi on pump? with a solid tune YES.
is it a good idea with all the variables in play? hell one bad tank of pump gas and guess what....
jake its just not worth it. the end.
exactly... (although we have 93 here...we arent in nazi CA ;) )
you have to take into consideration temp changes and everything else...i PERSONALLY wouldnt run ANY setup with ANY tune (sans a drag car) more then 18psi on pump gas. PERIOD. theres a WHOLE lot that could go wrong and why chance...
its fittingly called "hot piping" or "hot charging" ... a LOT of full out turbo darg cars run the turbo outlet straight to the TB. im sure you can see the obvious advantage and disadvantages. bottom line on a street car though is anything over 5psi or so and you are probably doing more harm then...
short answer based upon you wanting to be safe etc jake: NO.
to build on that...why in the hell do you have a 20psi spring installed for a 67mm turbo? that makes no sense...im sure as shit thinking that turbo is swimming in shark infested waters OFF its efficiency island well before 40ish...
gotcha....im thinking of the 2j i guess since they arent true twins stock....
the point still remains that the shorter the lines the better for boost response...whether it be boost coming online, or spiking...the shorter the better. every single ebc you see out there says in the booklet "put...
arent the hoses on the 1j controlled by vacuum switches?
the longer the hoses off of the wg/turbo pressure port the worse off you are...put it that way....
IMO its not worth it to put it in the glovebox...
well i havent looked into it TOO much but i have talked with some nissan guys and they "told" me that the 240 sends a weird amount of pulses per mile so it PROBABLY wouldnt work in another car such as the supra. however obviously a simple adaptor could fix that if it is indeed a problem.
i...
i have two nissan hud displays....but i was told that you need the digital cluster too as the brain box for them is in that....
i have the wiring diagrams for them as well as it is one of my projects eventually...
ill try to post some up tomorrow.
yep get all the small things done. i would have taken care of them but i know all you wanted was for it to be driveable for now so you could give your dads car back ;)
get your guy there to do the small things that i wasnt able to get to and then bring it back and ill finish it up with a nice...
Found this by mistake while looking for something else. Just thought it was pretty cool.
