Try:
Clamping over the coil pack (obviously won't close fully)
Clamping the trigger wires to the pack
Use an old plug wire with male and female ends & temporarily place the coil off to the side, clamp the small section of wire.
Nice work.
I used the same platform.
Wanted to downsize it to an attiny but never got that far.
Would be beneficial for reducing costs on the hardware.
Need a good stable power supply for the microcontroller, automotive power is pretty unstable/dirty for them.

When you work on cars long enough you begin developing a large database of information.
Most companies have a searchable database.
Here is the one for Timken.

That being said, the one you have is probably from a Land Cruiser 1HD-T - 43mm inducer.

I started working on mine again after a...3-4 year recess.
Managed to store it that long and hold on to it after moving across the country twice.
Not bad...
Looking forward to posting lots of WTB threads. :D
Logged into MKIII tech today since....make a guess.
Even remembered my password on the first time, amazing!
Hall of shame :D
Starting to get impatient, wanting to work on the old 87' MKIII now!
Wow has it been that long since my last post here.
Time really has flown by.
Going to have to start a new thread soon.
Moving back home to the midwest soon, new prospects.
Hoping to pull the Supra out of its 3+ yr storage and start down the list of needed repairs/upgrades.
Starting to miss that...

It looks like you have most of it sorted out.
What are you trying to figure out for the PWM control?
I used a Timer function for the ATmega328P controller in the Ruggeduino I used.
This allowed me to set a fixed 50Hz (20,000μs) frequency and I used a potentiometer...
Ended up building my own from scratch.
Works perfectly, exactly mimics the TCM control of the solenoid.
Used an Arduino and high side control circuit I built.
Everything is controlled using 1 knob, very simple.
The back end is not so simple but that's the beauty of it.
Calling electronic gurus on the board that can help me design a circuit or modify an existing controller for PWM solenoid control.
Long and Short:
Manually control a 12v Solenoid in the transmission used to regulate pressure.
PWM from 0-100%
Problem:
Vehicle is too sluggish to fully...
