My car hasn't had power steering the entire time I've owned it, and I just want to add this: when you lose traction on the rear wheels in the rain, and the steering wheel is ripped out of your hands and the car starts spinning, you will wish you had it.
I dunno if it's just my profec-b, but the settings that work one day have worked completely different the next. Also, even slight differences in mods will probably have a huge effect on what you set your controller to.
Perhaps you have an early 89 with yellow body connectors? If your diagrams are for late 89 and on, they'd be for the grey body connectors, which are someone different.
Not really, I mean if you run the 1j without coolant for like a year it might get a bhg, and I've heard of 2jz's getting bhg's every once in a while but you really have to treat them like crap to get one on a jz.
Also, the 1j swap is easier and cheaper. If you have the extra time and or money...
Here's where I drilled the hole for my harness:
Look at the firewall below the speedo cable hole, there is a hardline running along near the top of the transmission tunnel. There is a clip for the hardline bolted into the firewall just above an open space. I drilled my hole on center just below...
Every other car that I've driven, I've gotten tired of. 6 years and 5 supras later, I still love them.
It's like some kind of drug, the days when the car is broken you're down in the dumps, days when its running you're on top of the world.
wait...what line do you have running straight from the alternator to the battery?
Every supra i've seen has one connection to the body harness and one to the starter on the positive terminal...that's it.
The 1j and 2j ignitors will work on either engine. The 2j ignitor is a little smaller. The avalon/camry ignitor working is a myth, however, you can pick up a new 2j ignitor from NAPA for like $140.
You can use e-fans and they'll work fine, however you need to put in a cooler for the hydrofan...
Years ago, SOGI was the place for supra info, these days I think that site is just kept up for the heck of it.
EDIT: Although I see people are still using the lists, so it might still have life yet.
The map sensor is labled "Turbo Pressure Sensor" and is part number 89420-14060
