Supraguy-
Thank you! very helpful pics. I see where I have to remove some from the stering knuckle ( post #45)
I am traveling down the exact same road as you on the front subframe
I know everyone's doing the MB upgrade, but I have all the parts - minus rotors so figured I would just continue.
Anyway, looking for someone to confirm or correct the way I am bolting up the brackets both DM and the caliper brackets
I cut the dust shield so it doesnt interfear.
Then I...
1500 - 2jzgte vvti
2000 - rebuild head/block
1600 - rebuild/upgrade twinds
1100 - harness
1500 - gaskets,hoses,belts,water pump, etc
500 - rear sump pan and jz/r154 bell housing
That is just the engine, not a cheep swap
That looks like my VVTI block, the oil pressure sender attaches to the end of the bolt that mounts the oil cooler/filer.
The hole your pointing to connects an oil line up to the VVTI unit on the head
Thanks again Hvyman and f00g00 -
I did check and recheck the mounting locations - I do have them in the correct mounting holes
I believe that I have two sets of pre 89 mounts - one that is BIC, the other is a knock off
From the other forum, it appears I have 89+ round motor mounts.
So, off to...
More searching tells me the US part number needed is:
15474-88401
Ok, so the brackets and mounts
Is there a way to tell the 89+ from the earlier version? I have 2 sets of brackets because I thought the fisrst set I bought were pre 89 - now looking closely at the two sets they look to be very...
I was able to find the below thread
http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?212318-Turbo-oil-drain-sump-feed
Shows a different oil drain - anyone know the part number for the one in the photo?
There are 5 different part numbers
Mk1 Aristo to 9303 15474-88400
Mk1 Aristo from 9303...
Thanks hvyman
Will recheck the mounts, 99.9% sure - worth a triple check
It was a front sump engine, replaced the oil pan. The drain came with the pan, are there different drains?
Thanks
Steve
Hoping someone that has performed this swap can tell me if I have the correct parts, or where I am going wrong-
I have a 92 supra to swap the 2jzgte - vvti into
BIC 89+ brackets
What I think are MK4 engine mounts
I did search and have verified the correct mounting location for the...
I got my 2jzgte vvti from JDM engine corp as well. They were local and I could inspect the engine in person.
I am just completing a rebuild of this engine, because I wanted it to have new pistons,etc,etc- as we were ripping it down, it was in great shape to start with. No need to oversize...
Hoping you can help or point me in the right direction - thanks in advance
Problem: when I removed the transmision for the car, the mount only had two of the four bolts holding it on. After the engine/trans was removed I looked at the mount and the other two were stripped - thank you previous...
Have the answer-
The seals are the same size - and are interchangable with 2jzgte seals.
On the exhaust side the seal forms between the camshaft and the bearing cap.
On the intake side - the seal is between the VVTI cam gear and the bearing cap.
When you put the bearing on the intake...
Reassembling my 2jzgte with VVTI
IT looks like the two camshafts have different size seals, but I did order for a 2jzge vvti and have 2 of the same size seals.
Did I get incorrect parts?
Am I looking at this wrong?
Someone that has assembled one please chime in
Thanks in advance for...
