My thoughts as well. I went to Oregon for 6 months this last year for work, and there is a stark contrast.
1) Good to know
2) My thoughts exactly. I checked them before leaving for the smog test, and immediately after returning and nothing was set. I expected maybe a code 21(Oxygen sensor...
California's smog laws are extremely stringent. It's a hassle, the system is game-able and it costs the average driver a ludicrous amount of money... but I do respect an attempt to improve air quality. Especially in crowded southern California.
That being said, it's very likely I'll need...
Thanks for the rundown.
I understand the basics of the stoichometric ratio, and I'll assume you mean proper fuel control just isn't happening(Which I should point out is obvious). I've got a fair DMM, by no means high end... it should get the job done.
I'll diagnose the O2 sensor as soon as...
Thanks for the reply jetjock. I've heard the saying used before "[..] engine is obviously not in fuel control.", but I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that. Do you mean the engine is outside of correctable Vf levels, or that fuel control is not being done?
Yes, I noticed a slight misfire...
Hello all,
I recently went to have my car smogged at a test only station and had some enlightening results.
First :
I have no codes. Checked before and after the smog test.
Second:
I'm running pig rich, which I believe is causing very high Carbon Monoxide and Hydrocarbon readings...
This is my first set of aftermarket pads, but the stoptech combo works pretty well. I haven't had a chance to track them, but the pads, rotors and stainless lines made a huge difference over stock. I've done a few hard stops on the street and I'm pretty satisfied. Quite a bit dustier than my...
I haven't used the pressure plate, but I am using one of their clutch disks. Good quality and seems to be holding up just fine so far with daily driver abuse. I did go with the full facing Kevlar because it's supposed to be better for street. Drives fine and the engagement is driver friendly.
LOL thanks. Good info regarding the lower bushings too, I had no idea that was the case. I thought about putting it in the suspension section but I was sure if this was technical enough haha.
There are some good insights here. I had similar thoughts regarding the graphite impregnation of the bushings. I've also heard that in our particular case the black ones are just black and don't have the graphite anyway. I suppose the general consensus is to just lube it better and that zerk...
Hey supramania,
I've been thinking about installing Energy Suspension control arm bushings. I daily drive my car and I understand that the ride will be stiffer. However, one thing I don't want is the notorious polyurethane "squeak". I'm sure this is common, but in order to eliminate the...
I've driven this at high speeds without problem several times without any issues. No rubbing of tire or fender at any point. Not to say that there are significant dips on this track, but I've even run the car at streets of willow without any issues. My tires are Hankook V12. Maybe they run a...
Thanks Hvyman. I didn't know that. I'm not really low enough to require a roll or anything, and I think I can go quite a bit lower before needing too still. Though I haven't tried.
Hmm I don't really have any pics that show the "flushness" but I think I have a side shot. I don't really take many pictures... Let me see what I've got.
Edit: Yes, these are bad pictures, yes, I need to be lower. Buut, I like not having to angle for driveways or care about speedbumps.
I'm running 265/35/18 front and 285/35/18 rear. Front is 18x9 rear is 18x10 +40 all around. No rubbing issues, doesn't look horribly sunk in, and it's a good amount of traction. Frons are a little more sunk in than I would like, but I didn't need to roll, pull or even remove my fender liners.
What all did you have to do to get the 8.8 Cobra IRS into the supra? I'm sure it was extensive, but I've never heard of it being done before, and I like the idea or keeping IRS but still beefing it up.
I find the gauge mounted to the hood really funny for some reason... That might have something to do with the fact that I live in California and highway patrol would never stop hounding me for it though...
I'm also interested in hearing the specs though.
