    I'd try finding a shop with a pit. I had the same problem, mine was simply loose u-joint bolts...scary... but I had someone stand under the car while i pulled it forward and back so we could locate the source of the problem more quickly

    thanks, what i ended up doing was disconnecting the negative and positive on the battery and connecting them with a ground wire. Take it off for thirty seconds and then reconnect the battery. I guess it resets the electronics.

    Hey guys, I just recently bought a 1989 mk3, 5 speed. When I put it in reverse it grinds... sometimes. I've noticed when the motor is cold it doesn't grind at all. But once its been running the grinding starts and gets progressively worse. Any thoughts on what the problem may be? Thanks
