Maybe I don't have an ssqv, or its a knockoff or something, because what you said made no sense. there are 8 screws total, all the same length, securing the case to the rest of it. Here's a few pics:

I took my ssqv apart and don't see a way to remove the 'fin' at the end of the casing. I am planning on recirculating it but I don't see how the fitting will fit in there. How does it come out?
