I can think of only one guy around here I would trust. He welded the cap pieces that held down the glass that went on the rover that found the titanic.
I am a welder by trade and I don't trust myself with them.
I am gonna be following this very closely. I have an extra set of everything to play with...too bad I am inexperienced with welding cast, I mainly do aluminum
I will do that! Thank you for the help guys!
I am changing out all the oils and then I will run it. I do not plan on drifting all that much, but I must say the temptation is there!
From my understanding (at least what my friends say) unsprung isn't a great daily as is, so that may not be...
I am going to start by getting it into the garage and getting fluids drained. Hopefully that will give me some indication of what is going on. Based on my (limited) knowledge I keep getting the feeling it is the clutch. Just from the way it engages, it feels completely different than earlier in...
Sorry about that, middle of finals for me so I am a bit scatter brained.
I am running a 1jz-gte with I believe an R154. I am still a new owner to the car so I am still slightly ignorant/new at identifying everything.
I am not sure of the differences between a 6-puck or others, I am a diesel...
I want to daily my supra and drift in the spare time...about one weekend every other month, give or take. I think I wrecked my clutch at the track today, it has a tone of "shudder" and then kinda clunks when it engages and I get moving. Doesn't sound good! lol
Right now there is a springless...
I can personally vouch for GOOD coils. I went drifting today (on track, no street drifting here) and I had a ton of oversteer and body roll.
If I keep drifting there will be a lot of changes needed, starting with new coils, a fender roll, and bushings.
I am curious to see how this goes. As a professional fabricator (my medium of choice is Aluminum, dont work with cast anything much) I do not see it being as safe as I would like. I have two complete front ends to play with though so I am willing to sacrifice some parts if it leads to better...
I think that I have it narrowed down to the alternator just like you guys are suspecting. Battery with a charge worked fine, ran awesome, but it also looked like the system is not recharging the batter now that it is in. Looks like I am off to order a GS300 alternator when I get a chance, I just...
Well at least a battery is cheaper than an ECU...funny, the batteries in my Duramax just died too...3 of them will be a cheap trip!
Napa can test alternators right?
My 1jz recently started dying randomly when coming to a stop, clutch in just idling. Then it got worse...it died at an intersection right by my house. all electronics stopped working, didnt even have hazards. i got it to fire up again and got it home and now it will not do anything. The boost...
I am pretty sure it is all original as far as I can tell. I did want to do bushings at some point anyway so I will add that to the list!
Anyone know if these offer anything performance wise?
