Ahhhh. Do you think not having the oil squirters will be much of a problem? I am using the GE rods, which I always thought were the same as the GTE rods, but why would Toyota put the squirter holes in them if the GE didn't have squirters? ...Its been a long time since I've had it apart.

    oldskool-nick's Official Build Thread

Sorry I haven't updated this in a while, but I have done quite a bit! Yeah, I'm just gonna run without the oil squirters. IMO (meaning I may be wrong) the oil squirters are more of a feature and they are not really necessary, but I'm not sure. Ian (IJ) is using a ge block without oil...

    Running with 1 knock sensor?

Well, I drilled and tapped the two holes and installed the knock sensors. I thought it would be a lot harder than it was. I bought a new drill bit set for hard metals and started with a really small bit and worked my way up. It didn't take long at all, and now it's done right. Thanks for all...

    Running with 1 knock sensor?

What year is your block from? I think that all of them after 1986.5 were drilled and tapped in all 3 holes. I have a cracked '88 GTE block and the unused boss is tapped, but unfortunatley, these are not. Believe me, that was the first thing I checked.

    Running with 1 knock sensor?

Have any of you sucessfully drilled and tapped the block before? Like I said, that is definatley the best way, but I've never done it.

    Running with 1 knock sensor?

Well, I looked at that diagram again, and it looks like there are 2 pins on the ecu for the knock sensors. There is KNK1, KNK2, and a KS pin. So I would have to wire them together to complete the circuit. ...Unless KNK stands for something else, which I doubt. this is the best daigram I...

    Running with 1 knock sensor?

Thanks for the help guys! Micky: I checked and there is only 1 diagnostic code for the knock sensor (code 52) so things may be looking up. Also, there is only one pin on the ecu pinout diagram for the knock sensor, not 2 pins. I don't really understand why, but I'm glad. And I was thinking...

    Running with 1 knock sensor?

I decided to make a new thread since the other one was cluttered with my other problems. This is the only thing keepng me from installing my engine, so I'm really hoping I can get some kind of answer. Basically, I am still using my 7m-ge block, but I swapped the electronics and wiring harness...

2 Quick Questions... (ISC and K/S related)

the tube in the picture? really? hmmm I wonder if I can just plug it then since my aftermarket bov will have vacuum from a different source... Unless you ment the ISC tube, but I got that figured out. Anybody know about the knock sensor? What would happen if I just leave one unplugged? Or...

2 Quick Questions... (ISC and K/S related)

Thanks for the help! I appreciate it, and yeah...I kinda thought I was wrong about that. My GE block has all three bosses but the 2 unused ones aren't threaded. I looked at the cracked GTE block I have and the unused boss on there is threaded. So, I'm guessing I have to drill and tap the...

2 Quick Questions... (ISC and K/S related)

Hey guys, I'm finishing up my build and there are a few small details that I am a little confused about: 1. The 2 visible tubes on the ISC valve run to the intake pipe pre-throttle body, correct? I no longer have my 3000 pipe and I forget how it was plumbed. Then the other tube that is kind...

Thanks! I really enjoy the custom fabrication, its cool to come up with a concept in your head, then go buy some metal and turn raw materials into something functional. I dunno, its pretty much the only art form that I've ever been good at :) It's kind of a combination. The internals are all...
