oh you know it. you'll be very happy with this kit i'm making tomorrow. everyone check back for pics!
the cars gone and i'm mad i didn't snap pics of the whole car. i have to meet up with the guy again so i'll try and get some
to tell you the truth i'm not sure. that sounds like a...
yeah its a gsr motor so a b18c1 i believe. the guy says its an sc62 turbo. he's bringing the bov flange to me tomorrow, nice eye though haha. i'm also waiting on a 2" to 3" 90* coupler for right off the turbo.
not sure on the color, but the way the car is painted it looks really nice...
the way i see it, if you go 3L bottom end, you have a 2jz. i don't care if the 1jz head is still on there and its really a 1.5jz. 1jz is 2.5L nothing more. and i want a 1jz.
everything seems to be ok except for the rod bearings. the motors out of the car and i can move a few of the rods back and forth :( definately acl bearings, but leaning towards stock valves with upgraded springs and retainers. any opinion on which brand to go with for springs/retainers? brian...
i always thought that some of that was wrong. pistons are interchangable i guess, but i thought the rings had to be modified.
and i thought the port sizes for the valves are different between a 1jz and a 2jz. i might just stay stock valves and but get springs/retainers.
eh i'll make it...
heres the situation: i've got rod knock haha.
so i decided to just take my time and save money and completely build the motor. i know some of the things i'll be buying but i have a few questions. I'm going to be assembleing the motor myself (1st time :ugh: ) but i also need to figure out...
i just put an oil cooler on my 1jz. i bought the adapter fitting from the ge thinking that would work to bolt the plate to the block....but it was too short. now i'm not sure about the 2j, but on the 1jz the threads on the block sit in too far as compared to the outer rim. i had to cut the...
ok the pump checked out fine. here is my theory:
when i had the lines switched, the pressure relief valve opened so no oil was entering the lines. then once i corrected the problem but still found no oil entering the lines, the motor wasn't turning fast enough to feed enough oil through the...

yeah the line is off and i'm using the starter to crank the motor. no oil :(
i never took the oil pan off though.
i had the lines backwards. i hate to admit that, but i guess everyone makes a mistake now and again. hopefully this wasn't a really expensive one. now that i switched the...
if it was backwards, would that have have caused the pump to go? i never took the motor apart so i know its not the o ring or gasket.
but like i said, i have the feed line from the block to the oil filter completely off and nothing comes out.
what i had just blocked off the line...
no i cranked it over more than once for over 10 sec. and i have an external oil cooler (aka the reason for my problem) and i have the line disconnected to see if oil would come out. no go.
i drove the car around the bock as well. shitty. i hope everything is still ok.
so if the...
here is the oil pump that driftmotion sells as a stock replacement for the 1jz/2jz. it looks the same as the pump currently on my car:
here is a pump that titan motorsports sells as a 2jz replacement, but it looks different. is one of these pictures the wrong picture? i doesn't look like...
