    R154 swap

This is from HamsMKIV on supraforums. it is for an MKIII, however. It is the best approach I have found. This allows you to use an automatic ECU. For a manual ECU you can do it more directly, but you will have to analyze the TEWD carefully to check all the harness wires and pinouts of the...

    Where did the oil go?

I didn't expect much action on this thread, but thanks for the feedback. I did have a friend drive behind me, no smoke under boost, FWIW. I will pull the head off in spring. IF I blow the motor, I have another spare, but I really think its okay. Also, I just did a complete rebuild, and the...

    R154 swap

I know I was a bit vague. If you are still stuck tomorrow, I will get more specific instructions for you. I worked out all this auto to manual wiring last summer, and I think I have a link or download, but I can't check it now.

    R154 swap

Your problem is you still have the auto trans harness. Most of the wires to the auto trans are not needed. you do need to loop the wires to the neutral start switch or the ECU will think it is in gear and won't start the engine. There are several good write ups.

    Where did the oil go?

Just to complete the thread. I collected overflow from the coolant system. There is a gradual overflow of liquid over a week as expected, but it is a water based brown-green liquid with an oily feel, not separated oil. I need to check the solubility of oil in antifreeze. I'll have to wait to...

Interior Illumination Problem (No lights inside my car)

Try grounds on right fender, left fender, and the intake manifold.

Open turbo: mistake or good thinking?

Yeah, i'm all for cheap mods, but that's as expensive as cheap gets. 1/2 hr with an open bung hole on my upper DP and I melted a few plastic hoses and the harness insulation. Spend on the 3"DP, they aren't all expensive, if you have no environmental conscience then bore out the secondary CAT...

lost to a 99-02 trans am

Yeah, When I forgot to plug the Wideband bung on the DP my car sounded like a Ferrari and took of like a cat in a kennel! With the wideband in and still stock exhaust, it is pretty good, but not as fast, at low end but dies above 3500 rpm. My spool is also slower with more restriction.

broken sensor what does it do?

AC water temp switch or coolant temp sensor. you can peel off the black sealant, remove the crimp connector inserts from the connector for better access, strip and solder the wires in place, the click the inserts back into the connector and it's all good. You may need to solder in an...

    7MGTE build need input

Thanks. I didn't really know for sure.

    7MGTE build need input

Is that true? There seem to be examples of close to that power with no mention of standalones. (ALso seems to be a lot of 500+ builds that say "stock internals"). for example: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showpost.php?p=958754&postcount=9 Could you clarify why you need a standalone setup...

    7MGTE build need input

Sorry, I thought you spent "all" your money on parts, got the wrong idea. You probably don't need new pistons and rods. just bearings, rings, a fresh grind on the crank, etc. Cams are nice, reground stock cams are cheapest, I think, but takes some fussing with shims to make it right. You can get...

    7MGTE build need input

You need to have budget and goals be compatible. If you've spent your money on parts, you won't finish quickly, maybe never, because you will need more parts. No way to anticipate everything in advance. If you asked, "what can I do with x amount of dollars?" I think you would have gotten...

    7MGTE build need input

I have no personal experience with drive shafts or forged pistons, sorry. FWIW, I've seen reports of over 500HP on stock pistons. I did do a turbo conversion. My stupid mistake thread is going now, so I'm not ashamed to say I'm a novice, but I did do the chase of getting all the little parts you...

    Where did the oil go?

Great thought, I will look at that. I hope its okay to drive it. I've got clean oil in the sump and oil pressure, and something in the coolant system that is keeping the car cool enough.

    Where did the oil go?

I'm really sure I'm not leaking any significant amount of oil on to the ground when I'm parked. I'm really sure I'm not burning any significant amount of oil. I'm really sure I'm putting in a quart of oil about every 500miles. I'm leaking oil somewhere for sure, just a question of where.

    Where did the oil go?

I sealed a plastic bag over the coolant overflow tube with some rubber bands and drove 50 miles. No oil or gas came out in that time, but there is clearly a layer of oil on top of the fluid in the overflow reservoir. Also, it is rising slowly. Since I lost coolant yesterday opening the system...

you got it. I'll do that.

    Where did the oil go?

Okay here's all the cards: as someone noted, I am not burning the oil. Nothing smokes anywhere. I should start a forest fire by now if I was burning that much oil. No oil is leaking, so not an oil filter. No oil in the accordion tube or AFM, but I can't say I checked the intercooler. Still...

    Where did the oil go?

Ok, but trivial. If I'm right this is something much stupider.
