im having the same problem. i've heard about the drain trick. i plan on trying to blow the drains clean. my car came with no headliner and the sunroof is all banged up. so i assume someone tried to fix this a long time ago. not to mention the silicone residue that still exists.
im thinking...
thanks man. theres a lot of good info in there.
I am just looking to see if the front hub bolts are the same distance apart as the rear hub bolts.
im trying the string method. it needs to be parallel to the front and rear hubs but if the front and rear hubs are different lengths then i will...
is the wheel track on the mkiii the same from the front to back.
i want to do my alignment at home and this is important, from what i've found.
im in a pretty tight financial time and cannot afford to bring my car to a shop
and the toe is off pretty bad.
so i want to do it the...
i am planning on running the same type of setup. volvo electric fan. fits the rad perfectly.
my clutch fan can be heard over my 3 inch exhaust from 3 blocks away. so sick of that pos.
i got the car with no fan shroud either.
these cars would definitely look better with some bigger flares in the rear and more negative offset wheels. might suggest the old school vw rabit flares.
You sir (and probably myself as well) are a constant form of entertainment. I love it. I will gladly make a video.
Here's some specs. It's reverse polarity. I have to plug in the gnd and torch wires backwards cause I don't have a switch that I guess some people do. I use helium as stated...

welp had a little time today and it was nice out so i decided to give another go at it.
did a couple butt welds. still needs some practice.
then tried ONE thats 1 pass on some flat thin aluminum sheet.
heres the outcome. first and last try on flat aluminum sheet.
jetjock-thanks for the...
^ this is why i went the route i did. a good tig costs 1500 (used) and 2000+ new.
so when youre working on a budget you have to figure out different ways.
and as i have witnessed via this website those different ways have been lost and forgotten.
well all i know is it works. and im only using DC. so, anyways besides that. ill post up pics of my progress. dont know when i will get back to trying it out again. its usually a while between my welding sessions with mine and my wife's school schedules.
and i did do research. i've done...
dimmam: awesome welds on those pieces. i plan to get that good one day. haha.
what im talking about is exactly what you guys said. half of the ac waveform is heat and the other half is cleaning. so with dc if you use only the heat side of the wave DCEN when you will need something to shield...
its dc. you can weld with dc it just takes a couple of changes. dc current just doesnt have anything to protect the metal on ac one direction welds and the other protects the metal.
thanks for the video's i've seen that guy a lot on youtube.
have you guys heard of ron covell. one of the...
nice thanks for the advice. i do have a nice piece of flat aluminum i could practice on. as you can see this butt-weld had a huge gap so that made it much more difficult. haha.
yeah see, with my oxy acetylene you cannot see a puddle at all. so you have to be really good. i've only done a couple of good runs ever with that setup.
i am so new to welding machines that i know nothing about the knobs. i've watched some videos on youtube (hahaha) and thats it. all i know...
NEIN!!! (anybody german). haha. naw its DC. i knew i would have to explain myself on this one.
i figured out how to heliarc weld. not tig weld. you can heliarc with a dc tig welder.
i can also weld stainless and aluminum with my oxy/acetylene setup. however it makes me feel like im going to...
