I decided to go with a Garret T04E with my 7MGTE mk2 swap. The T04E I'm set on buying I'm just wondering what the best fit manifold would be. There's two I'm debating over one from treadstone and one from driftmotion. I think I'm going to go with the treadstone manifold. From reading other...
I have a JDM engine running with the EGR removed. My car is a 5spd and has an automatic wiring harness. I did the necessary conversions to make the harness work but.
What I want to do is order a JDM ECU. I found a good condition JDM ECU but it's from an AT. Is it okay to use the JDM AT ECU...
Any luck fixing this? My car has similar symptoms:
After about 20 seconds of idle blue smoke comes out the exhaust and white smoke out from the exhaust manifold area. It just gets worse the longer I run my car. I have a bad afm but no codes and my turbo was just rebuilt.
Ah yes, it could be oil. When i removed my intake manifold there was quite a bit of oil in the bottom. It could be my pcv system has some leaks, those hoses don't look like they're in good condition. Its also been sitting for awhile so it could be old gas. I'll probably be looking into replacing...
Okay i'll just let that burn off then. I've discovered the exhaust is actually blue, which is probably due to my bad afm. I'm going to do some more tests and if i can narrow it down to the afm i'll install my maft pro.
When I removed my intake manifold I didn't pre-drain the coolant and coolant leaked into the head from the intake manifold. After letting it warm up for about 20 seconds white steam starts to smoke out from underneath the exhaust manifold and out the exhaust. I want to let it run to burn it off...
I removed the intake manifold from the car right up to the head. I had the coolant hoses disconnected there and coolant leaked into the manifold and down into the head. I'm thinking this smoke is my engine burning the coolant off, does that make sense?
I'm about to do this with the engine still in the car but will be removing everything I can to make room. Did you look into something like this for getting that last stud drilled...
Are you keeping the harness from the manual engine or using the auto harness with the 5speed?
I put an engine harness from an auto into my 5 speed. If this is what you're doing you can just bypass the neutral start switch by connecting two wires. You can also wire up a neutral start switch...
I'll double check that hose and the heat shield. Where it's coming from is underneath the exhaust manifold by the front most gap. I can't see far enough down to spot the source. I've tried to get a mirror down far enough to see where exactly it's coming from, but it's just a difficult place and...
Okay thanks for the advice, I'll get out my timing gun and give it a shot. I heard a rumor that the early throttle bodies have an idle adjustment screw that was permantly sealed in the later years, but I'm not sure about that.
Yeah I'd like to check all other possibilities before I look for that because it has a mhg and arps with 15, 000 kms. Can I time the car if the idle is high? I was under the impression I had to get it down to 700 before I could set base timing
Nice, yeah I messed up my tach haha but my new gauge cluster is nicer anyways :) No man I had a pre 89 for sure it had yellow plugs, external hac and other things... it was a JDM though that's the difference. JDM harnesses have different dash plugs, not that this has anything to do with your...
I did it, the harness was a JDM 88 7mgte and the shell was a 86.5. I had to convert the 3 plugs you're looking at and extend the harness about a foot. I used the TEWD for each year and figured out what each of the wires on those connectors went to. There were only a few differences, so I sourced...
Yeah I thought about that and I did spill coolant in that area. It just seems like a lot and I've let it burn for around 20 mins and it's still steaming
After my 7mgte warms up, what I'm assuming is steam from coolant boiling comes up from underneath the exhaust manifold in the CPS area. I'm not sure how to identify it, whether it's an exhaust leak and I should replace my exhaust manifold gasket or whether it's a coolant leak. I'm assuming from...
I bought that accordian hose from driftmotion, it comes with new clamps for every hose that connects to it and i'm happy with it. I've only had good experience from driftmotion.
