A booster problem would give a rock hard pedal. You can rule that out. So what restores the firmness to the pedal? ps don't drive the car until you figure this out.

You could try taking off the trim piece above your glove box to clean the temp sensor. Be very careful with the trim piece and the sensor behind it though! Mine was very dirty and cleaned up pretty nicely.

I left my lower ball joints on and took out the three nuts/bolts that hold the ball joint to the a-arm. Oh and a pneumatic hammer makes quick and fun work of the stock bushings ^^

I don't completely understand where your describing, but the only place you should get spark is out of the spark plug. You checked them with a spark plug in them right?
