ahh that's a might fine tractor engine you have there jebus!
Mines on a fresh build and sounds the same way... just checked the clearances less than 5k km ago and they are all within spec..
I remember reading somewhere that there is a possibility for the squirter's to fail resulting in a loss of oil pressure?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
bearings are cheap.... It's the machine cost and the labor that's expensive... If your not able to rebuild a motor yourself.
If I spun a bearing here is what I would do:
1. Tear the motor apart
2. Machine the block and head to the correct RA spec for a metal headgasket
3. Rebuild the head
4...
Hehe, yes I know about the group A pan, and would love a copy of it for myself!
Ah, so I am glad I have been following the advice of the experts here on SM, never led me wrong in the past which is why I tried the extra quart thing for myself. I had thought about it after reading up on it, and...
But you are still trying to start the engine with moisture inside the oil pan, chances are pretty good you will get rod knock if you do this. If this BHG'd JDM engine doesn't already have it.
As for the wiring, check all the grounds, take your battery somewhere else to be tested, and go over...
This is what I have been reading about, that there is no downside to doing this. I was curious why, if there is no ill effects, would Toyota not just make the recommended fill capacity 1 liter more?
Now, what I have read is that there is room enough in the pan to hold an extra liter without...
Um for one... why are you trying to start the engine with a blown head gasket?
How do you know it has a blown head gasket? Mixed coolant and oil in the pan?
If it was me I would be contacting whoever I bought the motor off and trying to get my money back or exchanging it for one that doesn't...
I've always run GC 0w30 (actually got a couple cases of the true green stuff), ever since this motor has been in my possession (about 3,500km after rebuild, and was run on 10w30 RP after break in)... No issues at all, always had within spec oil pressure and no abnormal noises have started (I do...
uhm, he wasn't even in a mk4.. he was in an evo. and yes that was an Mk2.. and yes I was there (for the event)... that was at suprafest 06 in vancouver canada.
Not hard for an evo to beat a mk2 with a 5m... now if it had a 7m swapped in he would have smoked the evo.
Just purchased one of the older style ssqv... compressor surge at low boost (like around .1 bar) and it is very quiet... I can hear a little bit of compressor surge then a little whistle (doesn't sound like ANY other ssqv I've heard...) even at .8/.9 bar... I've got a small leak at the flange...
+1... But I heard that they might be discontinuing the megan tracks...
I was thinking about purchasing that exact setup in a month. But if they are discontinuing the tracks I might go with the tien flex's
So I get all set up to watch a supra kick some domestic ass on national tv on my projector... go to my recorded tv shows, I'm so happy that it actually recorded it and I'm set up to watch, got my bear cracked and my chips by my side.... click on the episode.... and what do I see.... two god damn...
To swap the turbo engine in you need the 7m-gte, 7m turbo ecu (either manual or auto will work) and a turbo wiring harness... To keep things simple look for all this out of an 87/88 supra.
Edit: and all the other misc. turbo stuff required (ic piping, electronics etc etc..)
Just do what Dan suggested... I am using an auto harness with a manual ecu and manual transmission without any issues (I had to jumper the nuetral safety switch though)... other than that it worked fine... so find somebody that has an auto and is swapping to 5spd and trade them harnesses.
There is a road that is about half an hour away from me that is absolutely amazing... Locally it's known as westside road... It is a very dangerous road if you are not careful, basically the entire time you are beside a cliff....
Touge is what I mainly do with my car, but haven't had a...
