Clunk sound from rear- Anyone ever had a bad half shaft?

I searched for 'clunk', but came up with nothing. I've been getting a noise from the rear end for a little while now, noticeable when changing from reverse to first, or when shifting. I replaced the diff with another one(also because the pinion seal was leaking), but it didn't change the sound...

Okay- how did I make this happen? BOV won't open

Hey guys- I had mentioned this in passing in another post, but now it's an issue that I can't resolve. Yesterday I replaced my exhaust manifold and gasket, because mine was cracked. Anyway, I get it all together, and now the BOV won't vent. Here's what I did/touched in the process: Removed...

while i'm waiting for some paint to cure....

I was wondering wgich way the manifold to turbo gasket goes- the square one with the perfectly round hole in it. One side is mirror smooth, the other side has a raised lip around that round hole. Does it matter? Thanks.

    Clutch question- yay!

Ok, I just put the "yay!" in the title to get you guys in here. I have a question about the stock turbo clutch. I've seen that the stock NA disc is 9 1/4in. diameter, but what about the turbo unit? I've seen replacements listed with 9 1/4in, 9 5/16in, 9 7/8in, and even 9 1/2in diameter. I'd...

Took as long as he said it would.

I got my BIC nylon bushings in the mail from Randy last week, and I finally got the courage to drop my rear subframe. I was afraid it would be an all-day thing, and I'd have to unbolt and remove everything to get it done. But no. It was quite straight forward. All I did was: 1. Loosen my...

    Pushloc hose- who's using it??

Hey guys- I had been using a -6an stainless line for my AFPR to fuel rail, but I was concerned about the danger of shorting against the alternator, so about 4 months ago I replaced the line with Jeg's -6 pushloc. I've had no problems whatsoever, but i was just on Jeg's site, looking at more...

    Very quick question @ Lexus/ Supra AFM's

Are the electronics on the stock AFM the same for all 7MGTE's? And are the Lexus electronics compatible as well? I read a few threads concerning the Lexus upgrade, but couldn't see any mention of whether the electronics need to be swapped out, or if the Lexus unit could stay on the AFM body...

A couple of questions about throttle position sensors

    1. How much compatibility among years and engines is there? I see alot of different part numbers floating around; Are they year-specific- AKA- 87-88, 89+, turbo/ NA? 2. I tested and adjusted my TPS per the TSRM. Got it adjusted correctly, however, one check is to see if you have infinite...

    Rear subframe bushings...

I was wondering if anyone knew the outside diameter of the rear subframe bushing, and also the inside bolt hole diameter. I was thinking about getting some alloy spacers. I jacked up the car the other day, and it looks like i've got almost a half inch of freeplay in the back end's bushings...

Had a scare today- pcv system was the culprit.

I started backing out of my driveway today, and immediately noticed that I was passing through a cloud of blue-white smoke from my exhaust. :aigo: Now my car has never burned any oil, but the cloud didn't seem quite blue, and didn't seem quite white. I decided to go for a quick ride, thinking...

Why it didn't misfire- I'll never know...

Was bored today, so I decided to degrease the #3 cover on my engine, as it was inexplicably greasy. I figured I just had to retorque the valve cover bolts. Well, after taking off the IC pipes and unbolting the coilpack, I start pulling the spark plug wires. HOLY Crap! EVERY single plug wire was...

    WOW! Oil pump bargain!

I was looking up prices on Rockauto.com, and just for giggles, I priced a new oil pump for the 7mgte. Part# 15100-42021 $103.79 ???!!! It's actually $15 cheaper than the non-turbo pump!!! What the Hey-Hey?? The listing says it's Aisin, too. I'm kicking myself, because I just 'thought'...

Parts discount- thought this might be useful info

NO, I don't have any affiliation with the company. I just went onto the advance auto website to price compare a part, and saw that thru 3/2, they have up to a 20% discount on orders of more than $150, and free shipping on anything over $75. My part was originally $178(which already was the...

Having fun with a soldering gun...

Ok- soldering iron, but it wouldn't have rhymed. I've been busy exploring my climate control, as well as a few other things. Just got done with the hazard switch and the foglight switch, as well as the driver's side window switches: Still working on the CC, waiting for the temp...

For those of you that have tackled the LED climate conversion...

Hey- I was reading some old posts on here about re-doing the climate control LED's, and finally got started on my own. Problem is- now I don't know how to put a particular part of it back together. I removed the gray metal hold-down plate that keeps the brass slider in place for the buttons...

    Request for a pic or a photoshop...two-tone

Hey guys- hopefully this request is in the right section; I was wondering if anyone had an actual pic, or can photoshop a pic, of a MkIII with a two-tone paintjob. Specifically, I'd like to see what the car would look like with a meteor gray lower body, and a light silver upper, divided at the...

What have you all made/ used for...

...For the rear swaybar endlink tabs? Was just replacing my differential, and when I climbed under the car, I noticed that my left read endlink mounting tab was busted clean off. I know that some people just weld the originals to reinforce them, but have also read(don't remember where) that...

Tapping in differential side seals- what to use?

Hi all- I've been replacing the seals on my diff, and realized that I can't tap in the side seals, due to the diameter. I need something between 62 and 64mm in diameter to place over the seal to safely tap it in, and was wondering what people have used in the past, besides going to Toyota and...

What did YOU use for your side axles?

Hey guys- I've been trying to remove the two side axles from an LSD(out of the car), and my 3lb puller just aint cutting it. I was wondering what people are using for theirs. Did you just go with a beefier 5 or 10lb puller, or using prybars?(this didn't work for me either.), or did anyone...
