Went through, cleaned all the wires, hit it with a little WD-40 (the ultimate mechanic tool), and voila.. runs properly.
However.. noted that I am getting a noise on the stereo (aftermarket) meaning either a. It was installed (wired) incorrectly or b. I have a short in my ignition wiring. Been...
Hate to say it, but punctuation really helps... (pet peeve)
I think you are talking about the rubber hose coming from the turbo going to the intercooler. That is a common one for getting too hot and then falling apart over time. You can create a hard pipe/silicon hose solution, buy a used one...
Thats the whole problem really. Its not bad when you pick up a shortblock and have the time to scan it over for any problems, but when your car is sitting in a shop with a toast block.. the tiny panic sets in...
Trying my best not to end up with 2 piles or scrap iron...
My whole plan was to drive the 7m until it died and then dump the car crossborder to kaizen for a 2j swap and cosmetics in the engine bay (vvti)
However, all I was intending with what is going on is solving my engine smoking at start up. Well... When you pull the head all types of telltales let...
My engine is apart and I get to see what the previous build did wrong (read - everything).
I have to find a shortblock now (I am in Canada). Any ideas on where to look for a GOOD one? I am trying to steer away from JDM as much as possible, but if all else fails, I may end up looking there...
Figured it was probably them. Will have to pull the wires, and clean it all up. Probably a good time to redo he valve cover seals.
Hmm.. I remember a writeup somewhere about actually sealing the center galley...
Okay, I was hoping never to delve into any MK3 electronics, but apparently I may not have a choice.
My 90 Supra had a dying battery (knew this.. was waiting to buy a new one) and I went this morning to spray out the engine bay in preparation of going through all the vacuum hoses, etc.. to...
You didnt by chance shim the wastegate? I had that problem with my 87 GTE because the waste gate was shimmed. But the red light didnt come on. Should check for engine codes.
I would pull the head and see whats up first. You may notice issues with the head that caused the gasket failure. That way you may be able to get a replacement head prior to doing all the fuss and muss with replacing a headgasket. At the same time you will be able to check out the pistons and...
electrolysis? Are you talking about the corrosion on your head? Im not a machinist, but your head doesn't look machined well enough. That looks like corrosion from a leaking head gasket that sat far too long...
my comment and thought.. but I am not an expert.
what is funny is I was commenting to the mechanic about how we used to drawfile the block prior to putting a headgasket on. He just looked at me and commented.. "not many people would know what the hell you just said meant". lol
Now.. I have done a lot of research and was just checking DM to see if they had anything with the EGR system and saw this:
"3. 7M EGR Block Off Plate Set
This is Arizona Performance's EGR block off plates, these are very high quality and will allow you to remove your restrictive, power hogging...
Thanks Poodles : ) (sorry.. I like typing Poodles... there.. I did it again...)
There are no other EGR parts that are serviceable that I should change out while the blocks out of the car? From what I can see its only the hose and the gaskets that would be "wear" points.
I am rebuilding my engine and noticed that the gasket for my EGR system was blown out which had the exhaust gases basically cooking the hose at the back of the block (coolant elbow) and split the egr hose as well.
My mechanic says that i can delete it if I want although it will raise my EGT...
