So maybe I have an earlier version of the harness without these connectors?
I checked again just now and there's no connector for the reverse light switch between the main harness and the inaccessible connector on top of the transmission. I took this picture to show the section that I'm...
Oh one other thing... The TSRM also says "Remove transmission connectors" on step 6 of cylinder head removal on page EM-37. So, I'd think this is common and I'm not sure how you'd get around it...

Hmm....Its one of the wires that goes through the runners on the lower intake manifold, between runners for cylinders #4 & #5. There's also the starter wires, transmission speed sensor wires, and a sensor wire if I remember correctly.
How else do you get the wiring harness out of the way...
Hey All,
So I'm in the middle of tearing down my 7MGTE to fix its BHG. I'm doing the BHG fix with the engine/trans in the car. I've got nearly everything off and am close to being able to remove the head bolts, but I'm stuck on how to get this darn reverse light connector removed from the top...
Hey all,,
Just a quick update. I contacted a few companies that do paintless dent removal for quotes. I included a brief description of what happened to the car and sent along some of the pictures from this thread. I received the first response today and he recommended that I go to a traditional...
This is what I thought at first, but judging by how deep the dent is, I second guessed that assumption.
You don't think they'll need to spend time with pulling the chassis or futzing with stretching that panel back to original length? This makes sense to me, since it was caused by compression...
Interesting. So the mud guards have sheet metal that is embedded or that backs up against the plastic outer piece? Its weird because the visible part just looks like foam...
When you say that the part could be saved, what exactly would that require? Does that mean removal/replacement of the...
Hey all,
So I've been lurking for nearly 2 years now and have found the forum to be extremely helpful with everything I've needed so far. I've got two bodywork related questions that I haven't found discussed in any threads.
For reference, here is a picture of my '89 Targa.
Questions:
1)...
I think they're tremendously useful in the correct application, however, why in the world would you need 650 ft-lbs of torque? You do realize how much that is, right?
Destrux, I completely agree with the multimeter comment. They're really useful. I scored a great one from ebay for relatively...
Thought I'd start a thread for Body Shops near you since there's a Machine Shop thread already. The hope is that most Supra owners will never need this thread. Unfortunately, I do need it to repair some rear-bumper damage.
How about a good body shop in Asheville or Charlotte NC?
Does anyone know of a reputable (toyota) engine builder in Asheville NC or Charlotte NC? I'm living in asheville but have access to shop space in Charlotte as well. There's got to be someone in Charlotte, but Asheville would be more convenient.
I can probably use Golden Shamrock Enterprises...
Excellent. I'll stick with the small set of flex head ratchet wrenches.
How about a set of snap ring pliers and torx bits? They're the only tool for the job when it comes to them, but I don't know which things require them on these cars. I've only really seen torx stuff on american...
