I recently came across a bellhousing adapter for mating a small block chevy to a w56 trans. My question is will that adapter bolt to my w58? I ask this as I am contemplating dropping a 350 4 bolt main into my 88 supra. the adapter is cheaper than replacing my w58 with a t5 trans. Does anyone...
Shortly after I bought it, I cleaned the intake and found a crap load of vacuum leaks. Plus I had to runvacuum lines to the feul pressure regulator, brake power booster, and the cruise control unit. The head was port matched to the intake when I bought it, but I had to pay to have the cams...
Just before I pulled the head, I pressurized the system with a pressure tester. pressure fell off rapidly, and water started leaking from the joint between my exhaust manifold and converter. I was told the heater core was bad when I bought it, so I had it replaced and the system was bled before...
shooting water out coolant overflow when cold, oil in water, waterfall sound, white smoke on startup, sweet smell in exhaust on start. Pulled head and found evidence of leakage on exhaust side of gasket around the number 5 & 6 pistons, one bad freeze plug, and noticed torque specs were off as a...
I am pretty sure my supra has a bhg. I checked with the local parts house and can't find a metal head gasket to replace it with. Does anyone know where I can find one, and how much do they normally cost?
I'm currently running an auto slush box in an 89 na car as well. I want to go 5 speed, but don't know which trans to go with? I figure someone's done it, so I'd ask for opinions before buyin a 5speed tranny. I'm hoping to eventually push 350 to 400 horse to the rear wheels on both cars. thanks...
the only car I've seen that calls for 20-50 is my 77 BMW. Every other car I have owned Has called for a five or ten-w-30. I am however running 0w-30 in my 7m as the owner before me had done.
thanks, like I said it's an idea for now. I also have a 77 bmw in need of an engine.I've kicked around the idea of putting the 7m in it, as most of the feul system is similar, but then thats what I do. I think of ideas and research them for feasability, then look at cost effectiveness, and...
I own an 88 n/a supra, it's 7m is getting pretty wore out as it has 150,000 hard miles on it. I happen to have a 5.0 liter high output chevy motor with a t-5 trans sitting in a friends garage. Would it be disgraceful to mod the hell out of my supra to drop this engine and trans combo in?, or...
replaced the afm and coolant temp sensors. car runs great no more smoke. still have black cloud at high rpm, but seems to be going away as well. thanks guys for the help!
did you bleed the coolant system? Also did you make sure the jiggle pin was at the top? I checked both of those and also let my car idle to see if I was leaking any coolant.
I have a ticking noise that happens at idle and gets faster with throttle application. I also have a feul management problem. The injectors are new stock replacements, but the head was redone before I got the car. If someone mixed the valve shims up, could that cause a feul management prob? I...
all hoses are good and tight and holding pressure, or at least it seems to be. Rebled the coolant system as described earlier in thread, and think my problem has been solved, or atleast it's stopped for the time being. now back to troubleshooting my fuel prob.
thanks for the ideas, i'll definitely have to recheck everything. dealing with my feul management problem has me a little stressed. everything was good till I changed the thermo and bled the system.
i Am having a similar problem. waterfall sound from dash, no visible coolant leaks, new head with mhg. most coolant hoses new when replaced intake gaskets, rad replaced 5k ago along with cap( bought from toyota ). only thing i haven't changed is heater core, but carpets are dry. oil is clean and...
Personally I use a product called seafoam and inrtroduce it through the vaccuum system as well as the feul tank with great results. When I had to pull my intake to replace the gaskets, it was almost as clean as the day it was first assembled. if this speaks for how well it cleans, then my...
