This was exactly the issue. Fixed it today and what do you know... runs like it did before! Under the insulation the wire broke off fixed and now no more issues!! Thanks again guys for the much needed assistance!

Nice read, A friend of mine as a a built auto as well, but his does not shift at 6500 I think its closer to 6000. Thats why I was curious.

How did you get your transmission to shift at 6500? i would be lucky if mine reached 6000

It was a similar problem with my brothers N/A mk3, thing is couple days later he blew a headgasket iono if that had anything to do with it
