arent they the same, except 160 is labeled on 89+'s where as on 88's they're un-marked..?

ill double check and edit when I find the answer..

EDIT: yeah same thing, just one's labeled while the other isnt, should be identical..

dunno if this is any help, but i gotr indiglos from Speedhut.com. They're the only place ifound that will custom make any gauge set for any car & they're inexpensive too!

The guages are different. If you're familiar with the local juck yard you could just go look for one there. I got mine for about $10 (the entire cluster).

He has an aftermarket speedo? I think I may have missed something.

If he's got the stock guages with the 150MPH speedo, he can just swap in a stock 160MPH guage from another Supra and put the new face on that... they're plug and play.

Use them, I did w/ my original N/A. Just take a picture of your stock gauges w/ your new indiglo ones sitting above (not covering). This can serve as a reminder of the speed differences if you ever forget how much the new ones are off by. After installed just remember your speed is off by a bit, the difference in actual speed differs by larger amounts the faster you are going (it won't be off that much at lower speeds).

Speedo will still most likely be off due to different rear end gear ratios between years.

If you just take out your 150 cluster and replace with a 160 it will be off right? You have to get the gear out of the tranny from the newer supras to make it right correct (not the mention the 3.73 LSD).

dunno if any of this q&a about indiglos applies to my pix or not, but my original speedo was for 160 and the aftermarket company was very good about making the gauge faces exactly for my model car. OR you can have them make it however you want. mine are perfect fit with every number matching exactly. hope that helps a little. SpeedHut.com
anyway, good luck!!

You don't need to calibrate the speedo if you're just swapping it out for a 160MPH speedo. You might be able to recalibrate the 150MPH speedo, but your odometer and trip meter will be off.

WTF?! How is that even remotely helpful?

FYI - You can swap one MA70 speedo for another and they'll still be accurate. When you change the diff or transmission gearing you need to change the speedometer sending gear which is in the transmission housing.

The speedometer can be calibrated to approx +/- 10% but as mentioned before, if the speedo was off by 10% your odometer and trip meters will still be off by 10%.

I'm not sure how resetting the odometer would help in this situation... did I miss something?

When you said the odometer would be off I was thinking the odometer from the new gauge you would instal. I posted that to show how to change the numbers on the odometer in the swapped gauge to match the ones in the old one. Then again, you could just switch out odometers, but it takes about the same amount of time to do either one.

D'oh!!! Gotcha... that too! Yeah, the mileage recorded will be off if you switch guages. If you recalibrate for a different face the odometer's reading will be off, as in one mile won't represent one actual mile of travel.
