I'm trying to wire up my E-fan to run off a switch, I know it seems simple enough but obviously there is something I'm missing. Below is the wiring diagram of the fan and the switch.

Now I'm assuming that the white wire needs to be run to the Ground/ACC post on the switch like seen below...

And then a wire ran from the BATT/FUSE post to the blue and black wires that run to the battery through the fuse, like so...

But, that's not working, and I'm out of ideas, so I turn to you SM nation.:1zhelp: please.

I basically want an on/off switch, does it need, or the better question is, should it still go through a relay for that? The main reason I want it on a switch is the ability to run the fan with the car off at the track to help cool it.

Suprabad, I see now how it is sort of unclear, imagine that picture minus the diagram for the switch as the actual wiring diagram. That "Negative Switch Input to Activate Fan" phrase is written just above the wire that is coming from the 86 post on the relay. I don't understand what that means.

I'm trying to scan the actual wiring diagram now, but scanner is not cooperating.

Thanks for the reply Jet, but I think I may be more confused, but I've always been told thats good because it got me thinking, but I may be over thinking.

So the white wire coming from 86 needs to be grounded from the relay, then ran to my switch, (There is no switch in the system except for the one I'm adding in.) on the Ground/ACC post correct? Is the routing of the other switch post correct?

My apologies for the ignorance on the subject, I really thought this was going to be simpler.

Here's the wiring diagram for the switch if it helps...

You don't need another switch. Just the one breaking the wire between ground and term 86. One terminal on the switch goes to ground while the other goes to 86.

As I said wire it like the diagram and it'll work. The diagram above will result in a direct short.

Exactly, If you follow the path of your diagram you will see that by putting your switch in the close position (switching it on) you are connecting positive directly to negative. Instant electrical fire.

So that's simple enough if I understood you correct. I run the wire from 86 to one of the terminals on my switch, and the other goes to ground.

Wait...fire...what...
