If i just cleaned off all the gunk and reassembled the head identically should it be fine? what does a valve job consist of other than that, like i asked?

you want to take the head in and at least get checked for trueness, and cleaned.

Or have them rebuild the head which consists of the shop disassembling the head, and re-"sealing" the valve in the valve seat by re-grinding the angles on each valve. it can get a bit pricey, but well worth it considering what you get----a solid-sealed top end.

Ok I got a shop that was very helpful to me, giving me the proper estimates on work and that does not mind the fact the valve train is torn down. What I am going to have them do is order the head kit to use the valve stem seals from that as someone else on here mentioned (can't remember) and all I need left is to order headbolts. I am going to go with OEM type headbolts, not ARP's due to cost, and just want to confirm that I need 14 of these, http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/price/Toyota/Supra_86-92/Toyota/Engine/Head_Bolts ??? those are the proper ones to get? Thanks for all your help in answering my n00bish questions, I have a much better understanding of the engine head because of that now. :icon_bigg

Yes you need 14 of them.
Those look like them and you're welcome for the gasket tip.
It was I that mentioned it.

You shouldn't have to pay over 500 bucks and should be more around 300.

Your welcome. Taking the head to the shop tommorow after class. I finally got the pictures off my phone that show the werid buildup on the valves.

The white buildup is only on the exhaust valves, and not the intake. This is true for all 12 exhaust valves. What would cause this kind of buildup? (the rest of the goo on it is coolant oil mix that mainly under the valve cover (slowly creep'd down) (I wasn't joking about it needing cleaning)

EDIT- Could that white buildup be because the engine runs really rich due to a previous owner removing emissions? That would make sense due to the fact only the exhaust valves have the buildup?

btw here is the broken gasket...
