will i need adjustable cam gears?

im going to get some cam regrinds, and i was wondering if ill need cam gears for this cam

268 advertised duration
210 at 50 degrees
330 lift

im pretty sure these are the specs. i can get the regrinds pretty cheap and was just hoping i wouldn't have to get cam gears cause im tight on money. thanks

The Cams will come with a timing tag

You will need a degree wheel and a long probe dial indicator on a magnetic base

You adjust them until the Tag matches the reading on the degree wheel

This will be YOUR motor's 0 position any further adjustments will be from this datum point allowing you to return to a known point if it hurts performance.

A dyno isn't essential but it makes the process much quicker to dial it in.

gotcha, thanks a lot. however, these cams are custom, and have never been ground before. so i am doubting they come with the timing tag. maybe i could use the bc timing tag and adjust from there.

The Cam Grinder should provide a timing tag as he's grinding them

You can't use a tag from any other set of cams.

If they don't have a tag send them back . If you do a search on youtube there was a Tv show that broke down indexing cams and explains it really well...for some reason Youtube isn't loading on my machine... $230.00 bucks is really cheap for a good tune ..

ya i saw that on youtube if you're talking about the grim bros doing a supra build. they own a shop on the east coast. $230 is for the cam gears. not a tune. you can get the titan cam gears fro $230. i havn't done the cam gears yet, the tech just didn't mention a tag. they could very well come with them though. thanks for the help everyone. i appreciate it

who is doing that re-grind? Kinda odd grind. I would really be curious to see the timing tag myself. Wonder what the ramp lenght vrs total advanced duration is like. You are starting to push the upper limits of the stock base circle with that much lift also.

delta cams. the duration is measured at 10 degrees i think. maybe 6, i don't remember. also, the exact numbers are

Really nice little Cams smooth idle in my motor and good power to 7000+

Duration is measured in terms of lift, not degrees. Meaning your cam will have a certain degree numbers of valve open time begining at a certain valve lift point. This is where too many cam manufacturers cheat. They say they have a 272 duration cam, but that is measured at 0 lift. Worthless number.

The only reason i said it was a strange grind, is that the advertized duration of 268 at zero is odd compared to the short duration of only 213 @.050 lift.

and the max lift seams way to big to get from a stock cam. My 8.2mm re grind cams are 262 total duration and 218@.050. these are already pushing the envelope on the stock base circle. To get a .342 lift, there maybe no O.D. left on the bottom of the cam circle.

this grind has been replicated a lot of times with no downsides. That is why i believe the custom grind from delta cams will be fine.

i got the cams ground today and they look great. they still have some material on the bottom of the lobe, plenty in fact. here are some pics.
