What would you do with £1000 (or $1900)?

I've just recieved a £1000 windfall from Mr Tax Man, and i'm unsure as to how to spend it. Lets face it, saving isnt fun :biglaugh:

So, i have a few options:

1) Take my Supra, E136GRK, to the bodyshop for a re-spray and rust repair
2) Buy a 7M-GTE engine & harness and do a swap (assuming i can find one for that little)
3) Buy a complete, tax'ed and tested 7M-GTE Automatic (manual turbo's are a bitch to find here)
4) Upgrade the computer
5) Buy a laptop

Aaaargh! So Many options! :aigo: :1zhelp:

id look into the rust repair or a swap. a car is no good if it rots away and lets face it turbo would be a lil more fun than N/A ;)

I myself am all about restoration before I go turbo...but I guess I can't really say much, heh I've bought basically 80% of things needed for the conversion and am still restoring.

But I'd say fix the rust first and any missing or damaged interior/exterior parts, then swap. But it's all up to you man, good luck with that decision and DON'T impulse buy, haha. You might regret it.

Yeah the rust repair is just a small amount around the arches - common stuff. Not wanting a whole body respray either - just a touchup in the original colour, get the lacquer back on the spoiler etc.

Looking into the cost for it right now - yellow pages rock :D

Sell the N/A add whatever you get for it to your £1000 and buy the cleanest Turbo Manual you can find. I got mine off egay 2 years ago for £890 needing some work, also look in the forsale section on www.mkiiisupra.net some real bargins to be found there.

Problem is, in the UK finding a Manual Turbo is nigh on impossible, almost all but the most expensive, are automatics. My N/A has a lot invested in it and i'd like to keep it if at all possible. I'm inclined to go for the rust repair and respray, followed by the trim replacement (front bits near the side indicators).

Any left over would go on replacement of little bits here and there.

If i did sell my N/A with its 165,000 on the clock and complete service history, how much would i get for it? I'm banking on less than about 600 quid :(

Holy Crap! I just checked driftmotion and suddenly, i'm not so sure about anything again!

1JZ Complete engine (looks like it includes turbo's) for $1000, which would leave me $900 for shipping and/or accessories - aaaugh!!!!! :aigo:

an RHD 1JZ? Well, looked through the list already, theres a 1G-GTE in the lineup of the available ones, but no 1JZ's, certainly not for a measly grand anyway, even if i sold my N/A, i'd still be limited to a halfway decent 7M-GTE, maybe even a manual one. Thats why i was looking at driftmotion and the 1JZ engine they had there for $999. MA70 + 1JZ-GTE? Well it'd be a step up for me in several ways:

a) Kudos
b) Cheaper Tax
c) Cheaper Insurance
d) More Power
e) More Torque
f) More Tuning options

Of course, for most of those, a 7M-GTE would suffice, but then i'd have more expensive insurance and the same tax :3d_frown:

Trying to find 1JZ/2JZ/7M engine suppliers in the UK other than RPS (who seem a little.....dodgy) and body shops that are for cars, not people wanting mango body butter :aigo:

Since your car is an 88 Kai your also gonna need motor mounts from an 89+ car as 1jz only were avalible in 89+'s

Get the BIC motor mount adaptor brackets! I plan on it when I swap!
