Hello everyone,

I'm installing a full-flow oil cooling system, but have read in order to remove the stock cooler housing, you have to use a long 3/4 - 16 union bolt.

I don't want to use the NA mk4 oil housing, I just want an union bolt.

There are literal clues and snippits of information as to what actually works, but nothing concrete.

Does anyone have a length?

I have a seller that has 1inch, 3-1/4inch, 1/2 extensions.

Thanks,

Matt-

ok are you trying to eliminate the water portion of the oil cooler, and add an external oil cooler?? if so then just remove the water portion and hook up a coolant hose from the hard pipe to the block (dont plug the hard line or block). then buy yourself a oil filter adapter like this one (adapter) its 3/4-16 thread. and a filter mount (mount). then buy your self a oil thermostat (if you dont you wont heat up the oil thats a bad thing!) like this (thermostat). then buy a nice oil cooler! and hook it up like this:

i sugest for adapter fittings (that are on the oil adapter plates) that are 1/2"-14 NPT either hose barb or AN fitting ends (no smaller than -8)
im setting mine just like this but with -10 AN fittings and hose (i have a shimed pump, if you do to then NOTHING SMALLER THAN -10 AN FITTINGS AND HOSES)

I'm going to mate my relocation plate directly to the block. I do not want to use the stock set-up on the block even minus the water cooler portion.

The relocation plate does fit without the use of a longer union bolt, i'm not sure of the length of the bolt everyone else is using. Some say a Ford bolt, others made their own.

I posted a seperate oil circuit question, that your pictures further complex my question. Looking at your oil filter adapt you have a 4port one. I assumed the way you connected yours was the correct way, although I've seen Gilsdorf with the lines going in and out on the same side...which is right?

While were here couldn't you have mounted the oil temp and pressure gauge on two of the four ports.

Anyone who has done this put in your two cents.

Thanks

ok so your taking off the elbow then and connecting the adapter directly to the block? i have no clue what your trying to do.....sorry.....

but to answer your question the 4 port oil filter mount allows you to have the in out on either side left or right (for mounting purposes) i havent finilized the mount location for the mount yet they are just hand tight for now. yes i could have but the thermostat already had a port for the temp sensor, and im not using a guage for the temp and pressure. my pressure sensor is going in the stock location. im using a stack cluster in my car, so its way different....

Revived.

I removed only the water portion of the stock filter housing and routed the water to the block.

I am connecting the oil filter adapter to the stock filter housing using a threaded union purchased on ebay(pictured here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...STRK:MEWN:IT&viewitem=&item=370052947853&rd=1 )

Since it's literally all-thread is there a possibility of the stock filter housing and filter adapter seperating?
