i get a vibration in my steering wheel and auto shifter around 50,then it dissapears. i've had it aligned recently also.

Get on and off the throttle hard a few times if the mounts broken you'll get a metallic cluck as the limiter hit!
Tire un-balance problems show up around 55mph. They send vibration into the steering components.
It could cause the shift lever to vibrate too.
You can jack up the car and slide under to see the trans mount. There should also be a rubber stopper that will keep the trans off metal parts if the mount sags, or fails.
I seriously doubt bad trans mount will vibrate the steering wheel.
