What Could Be Causing 'bogged Down' Acceleration

Hi - I've got a '89 Supra Turbo M/T with 110k miles (bone stock). Replaced head gasket last year.

In the last month the turbo gauge has flat-lined (needle never moves - even on hard acceleration) and in the last week it's getting harder and harder to accelerate. I have to rev to 3000 rpm and then it slowly will accelerate. No noticeable smoke. Any ideas?

is the exhaust side of the engine loud? on the exhaust manifold it is easy to strip... whoever did the work mightve stripped them like they did on my 7m and you'll have to rethread/helicoil. its really easy to notice if the sound goes away after driving (gasket expanding) but comes back after it cools off.

i would do a tune up... spark plugs, change the oil, flush the coolant, change the air filter, just regular shit like that... and then start to check for bigger problems. could also do a compression test to see if everything is "good"...
