what are the differences between a 7mgte fuel pressure regulator and a 7mge fpr

Only reason im asking is because my jdm motor did not come with one so i swap the one from my n/a onto my turbo motor. Car idles fine, I did not drive it on the rd yet. I heard that the non turbo fuel pressure regulator has a higher fuel pressure but will it compensate for boost like the turbo one would?

edit: this is only on a stock ct26 at 10lbs and divorced downpipe

the n/a has a vaccum nipple and looks just like the turbo fpr

to 92nsx: once my stock FPR died, I went to junkyard to get another... Before I did it, I've checked EPC and found _different_ numbers for turbo and NA. Same at junkyard - both versions. Of course I grabbed turbo one.

NA FPR's have a slightly higher rate. I ran a NA fuel pressure regulator on my motor for quite a while with no problems. ct26 57 trim, supporting mods are 12 pounds

once at band camp, I used a manual that toyota suscribed. Same part # means same FPR.

I'm sorry you had to go to a junkyard to pick up a FPR. :biglaugh: Make sure your not talking about the fuel pressure pulsation damper assy.

I believe this is tru I remember be4 checking for fuel pessure that the turbo fuel pressure is a lil lower than the non turbo fuel pressure and i assume that would come from the non turbo fpr having higher pressure, oh well as long as it compensates for boost and you had no problems than ill stick with it for now.

Two different numbers in the EPC....

The turbo one WILL work on the N/A, but not the other way around if you look at the part numbers...

No, I'm not talking about FPD. I personally have seen GE and GTE fuel rails, they had FPRs with different p/n. Actually I don't care anymore because running aeromotive, so I'm not going to dig this topic deeper.

The NA and turbo FPR's are different...the TRSM shows different pressure ranges for each:

You may or may not have a problem running a NA FPR on a turbo motor...note the ranges overlap w/ vac off and the pressure is higher for the NA w/ vac on. The higher FP on the NA FPR can cause more fuel to be delivered for a given injector duration on the turbo motor. It can cause the motor to run rich, to the point of a stumble when the turbo ECU commands power enrichment (i.e. WOT).

You might get away with running a NA FPR on a turbo motor, but you are betting the NA FPR is at the lower range of its psi rating. Personally, I would not do it ;)

There are 3 types of FPR on the Supra.

23280-42010 - 86.5-87 7M-GE and 7M-GTE
23280-42020 - 88 7M-GE and 88-92 7M-GTE
23280-42030 - 89-92 7M-GE

86.5-87 are the same N/A and Turbo
88 is the same N/A and Turbo
89-92 Turbo is the same as the 88 N/A and 88 Turbo one
89-92 N/A's have a different one

So, if you have a pre-89 N/A one, it should be fine, if you have an 89+ N/A one, you may want to change it out for the correct one.

You guys should learn how to use the EPC before using it's information to tell people things, haha.
