You have air in your cooling system, or BHG, or your heater core is on it's way out. Copy and paste this list with all of them answered, that'll make this a lot easier to diagnose.

Does your heat work?
Does it smell funny?
Does it work on low, medium and high?
Do all the vents work on the proper settings?
Check your coolant, is it low?
Does your exhaust smell sweet?
Does your car overheat?
Does your temp gauge move randomly up and down for no apparent reason?
Is your coolant overflow tank filled with something that is NOT the color of your antifreeze?
Take your oil fill cap off, anything other than black on the bottom of it?

its called the waterfall sound, for me, it was my first clue that i had a bad headgasket, but it doesn't always mean that.

check or change your oil, see if it looks milky at all. look at your coolant for traces of oil. like quin posted, check all of those things

my clues for a bad headgasket were: was losing coolant with no leak (burning it), that waterfall sound, white residue under oil cap, alot of white smoke, and it randomly overheating
