So Ive had my AK for almost over a year now, and Ive grown tired of the Parkerized finish so Im debating on having it Cerakoted Socom Blue (I liked a blued finish look), or Painted by a AK Gunsmith (Tac47) (their process is sandblast, paint and bake, they admitted it wasnt anywhere near as strong as Cerakote but held up on their guns pretty well, and showed me a few examples). Also I got a rail as a gift and a free cheap (think he bought it new for $30) red dot my friend was going to throw away so I bolted that up to the gun and zero'd it in. Shoots fine at 50 and 100yd, but I wanted something that had a choice of reticle's. So im thinking about purchasing a Sightmark http://www.sightmark.com/products/reflex-sights/ultra-shot-pro-spec-nv-qd-sm14002 (keep in mind im not looking for some fancy bad ass Aimpoint) from a friend for $70. Lastly this almost sounds ricerish but Im kinda wanting to polish the bolt carrier, ive always liked the look on the old PolyTech AK's. Suggestions, Criticism welcome.

Thanks for any advice

Whos top rail cover is that? I run Parabellum Armaments AKARs top cover that is super solid and always returns to zero when you break the AK down. I beat up an old WASR10 with one and I hand no issues, I actually bent the reciver before the rail system ( WASRs are soft compared to other stamped receivers)

Other option is to run an Ultimak upfront in place of the gas tube. Looks really clean and cowitnesses but you loose the top guard and it gets warm.

I would avoid the Sightmark and go for a Bushnell TRS-25, best optic for the money. I run one on my 870 and had one on my old 74. Also on the color just run with what you want, the type of coating somewhat matters but it is not a huge deal. Both of my Rifle Dynamics AKs are moly over park. Duracoat works well but is thicker than a Cerakote and isnt as tough but works fine, guns are meant to be beat up and not safe queens.

But one of these too :p

Dang someone other than JetJock replied to this old thread haha.

I have since removed the rail on the AK and decided to stick to Iron sights. I plan on getting a krebs peep sight for it. That safety lever says it wont fit my rifle so im SOL there. I also had the barrel replaced with a chrome lined barrel last year.

Still haven't decided what finish I want on the rifle yet. I just know I do NOT like the park finish on it currently. :3d_frown:

They make different safeties for different rifles, I had just assumed yours was a Yugo.

Look in to the Fuller rear sight for the AKs, best iron I have used on these rifles.

So opinion on triggers. I only have experience with Tapco G2s and factory Norinco triggers. The G2 feels a little gritty when charging the rifle, compared to the Norinco. Are there any new options out there, that any of you have tried and liked?
