im not totally sure if this is the area to ask, but here goes..

ive been told by some local people that know some about supras that i can bolt up the w58 tranny to a 7mgte which i know would normally have an r154 tranny... thats why i came here because you guys know everything lol.

yesterday i bought a turbo automatic supra and would like to do a 5 spd swap.. i have a parts car (which i used to drive before it blew up) its a 5spd NA. now its just sitting around waiting to get a motor put in but i was wondering if i could put the w58tranny on the turbo car just for now until i get the car paid off to buy the r154 tranny.

i know the r154 is alot stronger and made for more power, but this would only be temporary..

any info would help.. thanks

No gearing advantage AFAIK.

Its a pretty weak tranny. Doing 4000rpm burnout drops won't help it lol.

But yes it will bolt right up to a 7mgte. You will need a new clutch and pressure plate.
