tokyo extreme racer: drift is the new game in the series. It was just released the end of april. I looked all over the place for it and finally found it in the budget title bin in Circuit City. Brand New game for 11.20, gameplay is alright once you get the hang of it. And best of all, they have the MK3 in this game as well.

Is it really that fun? EGM didn't speak really glowing of it in their 50 word review.

Yeah I do like it. I mean, granted, its no GT4, but it is def worth the amt you pay for it. At 11.20, its a steal for the amt of time it will kill. All the reviewers say that controlling the car is near impossible, but after spending 15 min with it you should be able to handle the cars with ease. Ive personally only driven the MK3 and the Ae86, but it seems ok. I just wish there were more tracks to choose from.

yeah.. the txr games have always had wierd controls to me, but I sacrificed that for the essence of the game.. the way the games are designed are great! I love random races, and the little cinematics you get sometimes are a little intimidating... I also love the names you get along the way.... one guy that I raced once really stuck in my head.. his name was "smart yet dumb"..

::edit:: this was my bitch. light and fast. sorry about the picture quality, but i just took a pic of my tv a looooong time ago.
I have two MK3's in the game, too.. so don't worry.. lol

I cant remember off hand because i havent played TXR3 in a while but isnt there a jza70 and ma70?

Yeah i beat the game with a gt40 but started buying cars after that when i had +7 million credits. I bought a MK3 before i even really knew what it was. lol

And yeah, the only downside to TXR is the control. It feels like the cars float way too much.

The new TXR isn't anything really related to TXR at all.

It's actually a game from the series called Kaido Battle, which was developed by Genki, who also did TXR (Shutokou Battle) in Japan. It plays nothing like the TXR games. A bit misleading, trying to use the TXR name to sell a completely different game. That's the US videogame market for you. The next true sequel to TXR won't be out until sometime July in Japan for XBOX360.

supra70 is right, it isnt actually a txr game, and it is just sold under that namesake.

man I checked all of the used game stores around here, well eb games and gamestop, and neither one of them carried it at all. The only reason I found it was because my roomate was looking for a digi camcorder and we went from circuit city to circuit city and best buy to best buy to see if they had any open box deals where he could save some money. I looked for the game in every store and didnt find it until we hit our 8th one. So good luck trying to find it used dude.
