I reclined the seat all the way back and moved it as far back as it would go, then layed in the seat on my back with my feet towards the roof so I could get my head under the dash and SEE. I THINK I finally get how to get the connector off. It is on 2 metal tabs and I am guessing I have to take it off there. I will try soon, I need to take my sister to work, then I will see what I can do.

Thanks for the help.

Well, with my lack of patients it didn't work too well. I ended up breaking the clips on accident from the round plastic cover that holds the coil of wires RIGHT before it turns into the connector. Hopefully it will still work if I don't get it with the new control.

Regardless of what I wanted to do before, I need a whole new assemblly now... The work light fell down on the carpet and I couldn't see anything it landed on so I kept working...a few minutes later I smell burning plastic... I look down and the light bulb is right on the lever for the windsheild washers lol so I cannot use it anymore.

Pictures sometime after the weekend, the camera is out at the lake and I'm heading off for a swim.

Thanks for everyones help!

Any non-airbag combo switch will fit any non-airbag car. Airbag combo switches are different.

86.5-88 are all the same. (non-airbag)
89 USA and 89-91 Canada are all the same. (non-airbag)
90-92 USA and 92 Canada are the same. (airbag)

Putting an 89+ non-airbag combo switch into a pre-89 is very easy, if you go with the 89+ steering wheel there is no modifications to do, just plug everything in and go. If you want to use the older steering wheel, you must swap the slipring from the 88 combo switch onto the 89 combo switch, then bolt everything in. Either that or swap the connector on the steering wheel to match the slipring, but you'd need another spare steering wheel to do that. Heh.

I had an 89+ combo switch in my 88 with an 88 steering wheel for a while, then I swapped to the 89 steering wheel and had to put the 89+ slipring back on. :)
