25 years ago today, the HMS Ardent and the HMS Antelope were lost after being bombed by the Argentinian airforce. It's important we remember the 22 lives that were lost that day, and to salute their memory - they shall never be forgotten.

Rest easy boys.

I really don't like to stick my neck out on the chopping block, but I'm a sponge when it comes to information. Could I get a quick history lesson?

wiki for the falklands war - happened the year of my birth and was about midway through about this time of year.

Edit: Aye, I looked it up. A history lesson is always good. History always repeats itself if you don't know what happened in the first place.

Who names the british ships, I mean the Ardent is ok and all, but the antelope, that'd be like having the U.S.S. Squirrel or the U.S.S. possum. LOL I don't wanna sound cold, I am not disrespecting the sailors and marines aboard those two ships, I just find the names humorous.

God bless them and sadly the falklands war isn't well remembered by people in the U.K. much less the U.S. good to spread the word to us bloddy yanks.

I dunno where you get your information from, but plenty of people here remember the falklands!

All the classes of boats are given a starting letter with which to start the naming convention. Hence why all the Vanguard class SSBN's are called the Vanguard, Victorious, Vigilant and the Vengeance, all the Resolution class SSBN's being the Resolution, Renown, Repulse and Revenge.
