Timing questions

I set my timing to 12degrees

my mods:

550cc injectors, all supporting mods
maft pro
60-1 trim ct26
7mge cams

So I time it (TDC set properly, CPS installed properly) to 12 degrees and have no power, check my exhaust manifold and it is red, so I think timing is retarded.

Set my timing to about 25 degrees and it runs like a fucking dream, This is were it feels best (also has the smoothest idle)

What should I do? I know 25 degrees is too high, but that is where it feels like it should be, and it is almost undriveable at 12 - 15 degrees...

I know very little, and what I'm saying may be retarded, just fill me in, and let me learn, I tend to not argue if someone calls me an idiot (as compared to many on this site I am ;) )

Sounds like the CPS was installed off 1 tooth to me ;)

When you get that right, set your timing to 10 degs with the light.

how'd you set base timing?

Put both cams with timing marks lined up

Took out spark plug #1, checked for TDC, found it

Installed timing belt

Installed CPS with timing marks lined up

Thanks for the advice, tomorrow morning I'll fix the issue :)
