well, i rebuilt my motor put in a metal headgasket, witch was either a 1.5 mm or a 2 mm, cant remember at the moment, but anyway i have an ignition problem. i cant set it to 10 degrees. if i put it in acording to the TSRM i can get a max advance of 5 degrees. then if i move it one tooth over, the miniumum advance i can get is 15 degrees.

i remember hearing something about if the head is milled and the headgasket isnt thick enough or is too thick itll cause some kind of timing problem because the timing belt spacing with the teeth on the pullys.

anyone else have this problem and kno how to fix it.

id imaging my cam timing is off along with the ignition timing. so i kinda want to get it fixed.

FWIW, I just went thru this and it had me for a few minutes. 180 out. The guys are right. Then I had a beer.

well its been running all summer with my current setup, wouldnt the CPS bieng 180 out cause the timing to be way off? possible backfiring or something?

Nope... we run a wasted spark system, so it's always lighting up two cylinders at once anyway. This really doesn't change much - it still fires 1 & 6 at zero degrees and 180 degrees.

Hopefully, however, it will give you that extra range of adjustment that you need.

hmm im gona have to try that. i set it up just like on JBL's page and i guess thats where i herd of the diffrence in deck height and gasket thickness changing the angle of the CPS.

i bet i set it on TDC of the wrong stroke and thats whats causing the problems. i know i set it on TDC but i guess it was on compression rather then exhaust.
