well the first makes sense, i reversed the battery's polarity. And according to the TEWD how the alternator has diode's inside of it, it would result in a complete short circuit... explains the alternator going bad.
The second, it was rebuilt. I guess they just didn't rebuild it properly and sold it to me.
After it took it back, and they replaced a chip in there, I drove around for a good hour with my lights on, cd player on, defogger on... the warning lights never came on, and the battery voltage was never 12 or below. I think it's fixed now.
