You do not want a T-stat colder than OEM. The ECU looks for a normal ops temp of 80-100 deg C...below 80 degs, the motor is in warm-up enrichment...above 100 degs, the ECU pulls timing to prevent detonation. The OEM stat will get the engine in the ops temp range quickly...that is what you want to happen.

A colder T-stat will not make the engine run cooler - all it will do is delay the temp rise to the ops temp range causing to engine to run rich. If you are having over heat issues, a colder stat will not solve it.

You must be talking kilos......

Here is what I have for weights:
It (ATI) weighs 6.5 lbs., stock is 11 lbs.
(divide by 2.2 to get to kilos)

No it's not a problem...the ATI comes balanced. The rest of the rotating assembly should be balanced as well. It's best to balance as a unit (ATI, crank, pistons, rods), but it's not 100% necessary to include the ATI in the process.

I once saw a formula that stated 1 lb of rotational mass = 10 lbs of weight.

So, 4.5 lbs less rotational mass would be the equivalent of 45 lbs of weight removed from the car...?

If that's correct, then that would make any engine smile! :D

Thanks jdub!
